From your first reflection to your final draft, you’ll have structured guidance and practical resources to support each stage of the process.
🤝 Optional Live Story Circles
During select application periods, Application Lab participants may be invited to join live Story Circles—small, supportive peer-review sessions facilitated by current or former JET participants.
Each writer receives dedicated time to share their Statement of Purpose, hear how their story is being received, and identify meaningful directions for revision while remaining the author of their own work.
Upcoming Story Circle dates and registration details will be shared with enrolled participants as sessions are scheduled.

Taking this step can feel exciting—and maybe a little overwhelming. Here are a few answers to questions we hear most often.
Do I need to already have a draft?
No. The Application Lab is designed for applicants beginning with a blank page as well as those who already have a draft they would like to strengthen.
Is this only for people applying this year?
Not at all. While the program is especially helpful during an active application cycle, future applicants are welcome too. Starting early gives you more time to reflect, explore your experiences, and develop your story without rushing.
Will you write my Statement of Purpose for me?
No. Your Statement of Purpose should always reflect your own voice and experiences.
The lessons, guided questions, examples, and revision resources will help you uncover your story, communicate it clearly, and make thoughtful decisions about your writing—but the final Statement of Purpose will always be yours.
Is JETPrep officially affiliated with the JET Programme?
No. JETPrep is an independent educational program created by Positive Global Learning to support prospective JET applicants through reflection, preparation, and practical skill-building.
Will I receive feedback on my draft?
The Application Lab provides tools for choosing trusted readers, requesting useful feedback, evaluating suggestions, and revising without losing your authentic voice.
During select application periods, enrolled participants may also be invited to join optional live Story Circles. These small-group sessions provide dedicated time to share your writing, hear how your story is being received, and identify possible directions for revision.
Story Circle dates and availability will be announced as sessions are scheduled. Private editing or individualized essay review is not included with enrollment.
